Illegal alien kidnaps and sexually assaults girl in Star

29-year-old Jose Lozano Flores has been arrested and charged with felony kidnapping and lewd conduct with a child under 16. Park surveillance shows Flores grabbing and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl who was paddleboarding in Star Fishing Pond before dragging her into the woods. Police found Flores and the victim in a vehicle near Quinn’s Pond the next day, with the victim saying that Flores threatened to take her to Mexico if she said anything about the assault. DHS confirmed that Flores is an illegal alien from Mexico.

Pocatello man charged with felonies after destroying two Flock cameras

A 20-year-old man has been charged with felony malicious injury to property after police say he deliberately destroyed two of the city's Flock surveillance cameras by driving his truck over them. Flock remains at the center of a growing controversy over the use of AI-powered cameras to track license plates, phones, and faces by local governments and corporations alike, and at least one other act of vandalism of their cameras has been reported in Pocatello.

Boise Police fatally shoot man armed with a knife

Last Thursday a man called dispatch claiming that he was going to commit suicide near Cloverdale and Overland roads. Boise police responded, including their Behavioral Health Response Team, and attempted to de-escalate the situation, eventually escalating to 40mm less-lethal ammunition. The suspect continued to approach officers with a knife and was eventually shot and killed by two of the responding officers.

Mudslide destroys much of Grandjean Campground

After a massive mudslide tore through the Grandjean Campground and trailhead in the Sawtooths on Friday, several vehicles were destroyed and the campground is going to be closed indefinitely as repairs will take quite some time, though there were no reports of injuries.

Bryan Kohberger attempts to withdraw guilty plea

Bryan Kohberger, who pled guilty to stabbing four University of Idaho students to death in 2023, has filed a petition to withdraw his guilty plea and take his case back to trial. Kohberger admitted to the murders in his original trial and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

🏅 Person: Staff Sergeant Arthur DeFranzo (1919-1944)

Born in Massachusetts in 1919, DeFranzo enlisted in the Army in 1940 and had risen to staff sergeant in the 1st Division by D-Day. On the morning of June 10th, his platoon's scouts were advancing across an open field when the enemy opened fire with several machine guns and hit one of his men. Forsaking his own safety, DeFranzo immediately left cover and rescued the wounded soldier and was hit in the process. Refusing medical attention, he led the advance against the enemy gun mounts and was wounded several more times. DeFranzo made it within 100 yards of the final machine gun before he collapsed from his wounds. In a final act of courage, he threw multiple grenades at the emplacement and destroyed the gun before succumbing to his wounds. For his gallantry in action, DeFranzo was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
